Kirkby Lonsdale Brass Band Contest

Kirkby Lonsdale Brass Band Contest 2018

Whilst we did not have the wall to wall sunshine of last year's contest the weather stayed dry for us for the majority of the day. The large crowd was entertained by eight bands playing a variety of entertaining programmes, adjudicated by Derek Broadbent.

Many thanks to all competing bands, their supporters and the audience, and our generous sponsors and raffle donors. Specific thanks go to Derek Broadbent music adjudicator, John Knewstubb deportment adjudicator, Derek Atkinson, compere and Allan Greenwood for conducting the massed band.

This is a lovely day out in the pretty market town of Kirkby Lonsdale and last year we even had wall to wall blue sky and sunshine. The competition comprises each band undertaking an 'unadjudicated' march along the high street before playing a short, adjudicated, entertaining programme in an open marquee in the market square.
